a Taxi driver - Art Taxi project

Inspired by the historical background of the Sibal car, the first car produced in South Korea, Sibal Free Taxi repre-sents vivid narratives of the times. The world Sibal (시발,始發) means 'inception' or 'beginning'. This is an explo-ration project through which I talk about the space inside a car, where people meet others in the region of Chang-dong, Dobong-gu, Seoul and other specific places. While executing the four project, I faced with mounting debts. After donating my car to the Gasangri village in Yeongcheon, I used to enjoy public transportation.

The Captain Hong's Art Taxi Project was executed at a small village called Gasi-ri in Jeju. The project has to de-pend on worldwide discourse on aesthetics, going beyond community art public art. Regrettably, I have to take the lead as a forerunner in this field. I have to practice all with my body as I have no specific knowledge. The project sets diverse modes of collaboration, movement, specific place, and ways of generating encounters and relationships as the aesthetic objects to be explored today. The project was executed in a rural area, indicates the expectation and psy-chology of free taxi. These results represent the interest in how we can evolve our unique sensibilities in the limited space and time of downtown Seoul. This project, in which I offer free taxi service many people in a variety of places, generates a process site-specific art evolves into commu-nity-specific art. A work in omnibus format conveying episodes derived from art taxi and free taxi is made when my attempt to imagine a future scene through travels to main cultural areas is combined with the projects in three cities (Cheongju, Yeongcheon, Jeju) and Seoul.
QR codes are attached to treasured items of participants who experienced art taxi and free taxi. Through the QR codes viewers can see videos containing stories of each item by using their smart phone. The Captain Hong's Art Taxi Project engenders interaction and relationship with others. This is an unpredictable situation which generates diverse narratives through the art taxi project.
